I believe that the people must be educated. In what, you ask? On the importance of SPOILER ALERTS. Alas, in this day and age where information sharing is made easy by social networking sites in the likes of Facebook and Twitter, every person is rushing to publish their thoughts and knowledge of a certain something in 140 characters or less, first. What they often forget while they were oversharing certain details, is thinking through on whether or not whatever they are about to tweet diminishes another person's movie experience in any way at all.

So, I'm going to do you a favor, all ye who did not rush out to watch the movie Valentine's Day on Valentine's Day. I will give you a choice I never had, and that is whether or not you want to be spoiled by the knowledge of what I consider to be THE BEST PART of Garry Marshall's Valentine's Day. If you don't, please press the ALT-F4 on your PC or Command-Q on your Mac right now. But if you do, by all means, please read ahead.

Did I enjoy the movie? Sure, I did. Did I think it was a great movie? No, it's your average, standard, typical romantic comedy. All but one part: Eric Dane and Bradley Cooper. Their story is what makes Valentine's Day stood out. These two hotties spent their entire screentime apart from one another, and if I hadn't been so cruelly SPOILED on Twitter, it would've probably blown me out of my chair. This is exactly like the time 10 years ago when someone revealed to me (casually and untactfully) the fact that Bruce Willis' character was already dead in The Sixth Sense. Seriously, this falls within the same ballpark. I had some people putting it as simple as "The best part of Valentine's Day is Eric Dane and Bradley Cooper!" or "Eric Dane and Bradley Cooper are so HOT!", whose consideration (and talent) to remain cryptic while sharing movie thoughts earns my most humble gratitude. But those who just had to spell it out LITERALLY such as "ERIC DANE AND BRADLEY COOPER ARE A GAY COUPLE ON VALENTINE'S DAY!" seriously needs a crash course on THE IMPORTANCE OF SPOILER ALERT IN REGARDS TO POP CULTURE TODAY 101. God, not knowing they were a couple would've been such an amazing reveal. I'm no slash fangirl, but I'm telling you, the first thing I wanna do when I got home is write a long, lengthy, slashy fanfic about Eric Dane and Bradley Cooper. It was too damn short! I needed more backstory! Where was Holden flying from? What does he do? Why does he look so dapper in a suit, has a private car AND a chauffeur, but flies ECONOMY?

I NEED A BACKSTORY DAMMIT!

So, yeah. I knew it all along. From the moment they introduced Bradley Cooper and Julia Roberts' scene on the plane, I knew that they weren't together, because I HAVE BEEN SPOILED THAT HE PLAYS A GAY CHARACTER. I can't even believe that there are actually protests from the gay community about how the trailer de-gays Eric Dane and Bradley Cooper's story? Er, hello? THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT. They threw you off from sniffing the gay scent in the trailers NOT because of some anti-gay discrimination crap. Jaysus. Tell me that scene when Bradley Cooper walks in and starts running his fingers through Eric Dane's hair isn't the most romantic scene you've ever laid eyes on? Oh God, I seriously need a backstory.

I'm gonna forgive whomever spoiled me (I don't even remember who) because this is just your typical average mediocre romantic comedy that ranks nowhere close to any of my MUST-WATCH MOVIES OF THE YEAR list. But please do take note on this. I know you wanna be the first to broadcast-tweet everything, but please be considerate. Put the filter cap on, coz there ain't no LJ-cuts or Read More links on Twitter.
